Shabbat and Events Meals Reserservation – Terms & Conditions

By completing a reservation for a Shabbat or Jewish holiday meal, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the following Terms & Conditions. These guidelines help ensure a meaningful, respectful, and well-organized communal experience for all participants.

1. Nature of the Shabbat Meal

Shabbat meals at Chabad of Playa del Carmen are offered as a communal, on-site religious experience rooted in Jewish tradition and hospitality.

• The meal is not a restaurant service.
• Reservations are for in-person participation only.
• No takeout, delivery, or food removal from the premises is permitted.

2. Reservations & Advance Planning

• Advance reservation is required.
• Reservations are valid only for the specific Shabbat or holiday date selected.
• Seating, food preparation, staffing, and logistics are arranged based on confirmed reservations.

Shabbat preparation involves advance planning, kosher food sourcing, and committed resources. Once a reservation is completed, preparations begin accordingly.

3. Finality of Reservations & Community Support

Because of the non-recoverable nature of Shabbat preparation and communal planning, reservations are considered finalized once completed.

If a guest is unable to attend for any reason — including travel changes, personal matters, illness, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances — the reservation remains part of the scheduled Shabbat meal.

Guests acknowledge that their reservation supports the communal and charitable activities of Chabad of Playa del Carmen, and that funds are allocated toward Shabbat preparation and ongoing community services.

4. Charitable Nature of the Contribution

Shabbat meals are part of the religious and charitable mission of Chabad of Playa del Carmen.

• Contributions support community programming, Jewish education, hospitality, and religious services.
• The Shabbat meal is a community-supported initiative rather than a commercial transaction.
• Once preparations are underway, funds are applied toward these purposes.

5. Seating Arrangements

• Seating is generally open seating.
• Families and couples may sit together.
• Seating together is first come, first served.
• During larger or full-capacity meals, Chabad of Playa del Carmen reserves the right to organize or assign seating to ensure comfort, safety, and a positive communal atmosphere.

6. Children & Family Policy

• Discounted pricing applies strictly to children under 12 years of age.
• Children under 3 years of age may attend at no charge.
• All children must be included in the reservation count.

Parents and guardians are fully responsible for supervising their children at all times. Disruptive behavior should be avoided to preserve the respectful environment of the Shabbat meal.

7. Shabbat Conduct & Atmosphere

• The Shabbat meal is held in a non-smoking environment.
• Guests are expected to respect Shabbat and holiday observance.
• No mobile phones, texting, photography, video recording, or electronic devices may be used during Shabbat or Jewish holidays.
• Guests are kindly asked not to take phones out in communal areas during Shabbat.

8. Weather, Utilities & Unforeseen Circumstances

In the event of circumstances beyond our control — including severe weather, power outages, municipal restrictions, or other force majeure events — Chabad of Playa del Carmen may adjust the format, timing, seating, lighting, or overall arrangements of the Shabbat meal as needed.

Guests acknowledge that such circumstances do not alter the communal nature of the reservation or the allocation of funds toward Shabbat preparation and community activities.

9. Community Standards

Guests are expected to behave respectfully toward hosts, staff, and fellow attendees. Chabad of Playa del Carmen reserves the right to manage seating or participation when necessary to preserve a safe and welcoming environment.

10. Acknowledgment

By proceeding with payment, I confirm that I understand the communal and charitable nature of the Shabbat meal, acknowledge that reservations require advance planning and commitment, and accept these Terms & Conditions in full.
