After hours and days of endless upheaval and uncertainty on the icy roads of Ukraine, running for their lives, they managed to escape the inferno of war and cross the border to safety. Some as individuals, some as families with newborns and the elderly, and some are women and children without their husbands and fathers, who had to stay behind to fight the enemy.
Now they are exhausted and destitute with only the few items they were able to carry with them. A number of these war refugees have come here to Amsterdam in an attempt to find some peace and security and to try and rebuild their lives and regain some sanity in all this confusion.
This is where we come in - the Chabad House of the Israeli Community in Amsterdam, in collaboration with other local Jewish and Dutch organizations, have taken upon ourselves to assist and support them, materially, emotionally and socially.
We turn to our fellow Jews to please open your hearts and help us to provide them with their basic needs and to envelop them with the warmth and caring they so deserve.
Every donation, large or small, will help us help them during this painful time.
